2024 ATP Finals Schedule & Overview

The ATP Finals is a round-robin tournament which features 8 players or teams which are split into 2 groups of 4. Each player or team within the group plays the other 3 opponents in the group and the top 2 progress to the semi finals.

Singles matches are determined by best of 3 sets with tie-breaks in each set, including the third. Doubles matches are 2 sets and a match tie-break. The tournament selects the top players in the world based on the points they earn for winning matches during the ATP Tour.

Qualifying

The singles tournament features eight players with 2 alternates, while there are 8 teams with one alternate for doubles. Competing players and teams are determined by Race to Turin rankings. The top 7 players in the rankings are chosen first, then up to 2 Grand Slam winners ranked between 8th and 20th may also be added, and finally, the eighth-ranked player in the Race to Turin Rankings.

Players and teams can earn points throughout the ATP Tour by taking part in tournaments including Grand Slam events such as the French Open and Wimbledon, as well as the 8 mandatory ATP Masters 1000 tournaments.

ATP Finals 2024 Picks & Predictions - Who Will Win?

The ATP Finals is one of the biggest events on the tennis calendar, and we expect to see some of the best players in the sport make an appearance. As a hard court tournament, it favors those who play with a fast, aggressive style and strong serves.

Jannick Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz have all qualified for the tournament already, while Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic are all likely to qualify too. The final 2 places will likely be between Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Alex de Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov, Tommy Paul and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Men’s Players to Watch

Novak Djokovic

Djokovic is the current defending champion, and also holds the record for the most wins with seven singles titles. He’s one of the oldest players in the top rankings, but he’s still one of the very best. As you’d expect from the defending champion, Djokovic is likely to be the betting favorite but he’s not unbeatable. He lost to Sinner at Shanghai 2024.

Jannick Sinner

Sinner is currently the world’s number one tennis player based on the rankings, becoming the first Italian to ever do so. He recently beat Djokovic at the Shanghai Masters. Despite being just 23 years old, Sinner has already won 7 titles in 2024 including the Australian and US Opens. He lost to Djokovic in the final of the ATP Finals 2023.

Alexander Zverev

German player Zverev has previously won the ATP finals twice, in 2018 in London and 2021 in Turin. He’s never won a Grand Slam final, losing the French Open championship match this year to Carlos Alcaraz. He’s already qualified for the tournament and could be one of the top players based on the current odds.

Carlos Alcaraz

Alcaraz will be the youngest player at the tournament at just 21 years old, but he’s already achieved 4 Grand Slam wins in his career, including 2 this year. He lost out on Olympic Gold vs Djokovic in 2024 and also lost to the Serbian in the semifinals of the 2023 ATP Finals. The number 2-ranked player in the world excels on all surfaces and could win another major title in Turin.

Tennis Betting Tips, Odds & Preview

  • Strengths and weaknesses – Most tennis players use a certain style, meaning they have different strengths and weaknesses. In many cases, players favor a particular surface, with their best results on either clay, hard or grass. It’s important to study the style of each player before you make your tennis pick and consider how their strengths and weaknesses might affect their chances against their next opponent.

  • Form – You should always check form before betting on sports, as recent performance can make a big difference in upcoming matches. Which player has put on the most impressive performances this season, and did any player struggle due to injury or just bad form? Pay close attention to their form on similar surfaces and conditions too.

  • Best of three – Remember that the ATP Finals, unlike Grand Slam tournaments, are decided in a best of three sets rather than a best of five. This means that a player is less likely to pull things back if they go down a set early on. Bear this in mind, as it does affect betting opportunities if you’re looking at live betting markets. Live and pre-live betting is available at Stake.

Types of Tennis Bets

There are lots of different ways to bet on tennis matches here at Stake.com . Here are some of the most popular betting markets:

  • Match betting – This is simply a bet on which player you think will win the match. Also known as a moneyline bet, you pick either player based on their current stats, betting odds and form.

  • Set betting – Bet on which player will win a specific set. Remember that ATP Finals matches are played in the best of 3 sets.

  • Over/under – Bet on the total number of sets played, over or under a set number.

  • Handicaps – The point spread or handicap betting is good for when the skill gap between two players is high. Bet on the favorite if you think they’ll win by more than the handicap or the underdog if you think they can avoid losing by the same number of points.

  • Props – These let you bet on specific outcomes during the match, such as a player breaking serve.

  • Parlays – Combine multiple bets into 1 to build a parlay and increase your odds. Same game multibet builders let you add multiple bets from the same match.

  • Futures/outrights – You can also bet on the eventual winner of the tournament, picking the player or team you think will be crowned outright champion.
